Before us now

Summary: This worship is different from many other pieces in that it is designed to be used during the signing of the register at a wedding ceremony.
The song is divided into two main sections: the marriage ceremony; what the ceremony represents. Therefore, the lyrics project beyond a simple blessing for a couple to a practical application of love for the entire congregation.

Lyrics: Before us now, the giving of two rings;
A bond of love that's made through sacrifice;
The giving up of selfish hopes and plans
That both would know their love through sharing life.

Before us now, the joining of two hearts
In Christ, our Lord, that three would be as one,
To face with strength whatever lies ahead
And rest secure in knowing God's own Son.

Before us now, a precious gift from Heav'n;
A love that God, to us, has freely giv'n;
A time of peace that we have been allowed
To pray for those before us now.

Before us now, a symbol of God's grace;
Christ's bride, the Church, redeemed through sacrifice;
The giving up of His own heart to death
So we could know eternal painless life.

Before us now, the joining of our hearts
In Christ, our Lord, that we might serve as one
And thank our God for love we don't deserve;
The love that comes from trusting His own Son.

Before us now, the greatest gift from Heav'n;
Unselfish love that God, Himself, has giv'n;
A love that pierced the faultless hands and brow
Of Christ who stands before us now.

Before us now the focus of the cross;
The Christ who comes and asks that we would bow
Through need of Him, confessing ev'ry fault,
To know the love he brings before us now.
