I lift my eyes

Summary: In the original context, this Psalm is a 'song of ascents', sang by pilgrims as they journeyed to the temple for the annual feasts; however, this adaptation is intended as a prayer of reflection, reminding the listener that the one who they talk to is constantly with them and guiding them.

Lyrics:

I lift my eyes up to the hills;
Where do I find my aid?
In the Lord, my strength and light,
Who Heav'n and Earth has made
He will not let my foot to slip
And neither will He sleep,
The same who watched o'er Israel
My spirit now does keep

He shades my path and holds His gaze
While standing by my right
He lets not sun cause harm by day
Nor moon cause pain by night
The Lord will keep me safe from harm;
My life He watches o'er
He'll watch me when I come and go
Both now and evermore
