Restore

Summary: This song was written as the title track of the album Restoration and, for this reason, looks at the subject of restoration from a few different angles: personal, of our country and of the Church. It is approached in the form of a prayer and was written with the intention of resembling a Psalm in its structure as the writer cries out to God as his only hope.

Lyrics:

Save me, I’m calling,
On my knees, cause I’ve fallen,
So many miles from you,
And You’re where I want to be.
Hold me, forever,
‘Cause I, I would never,
Make it through this on my own,
Without you here with me

For so long, I went my own way,
Though I have known the one way,
I want to come back and be restored

So now, keep calling,
All of those, who have fallen;
So many more like me,
Who feel that they don’t belong.
Save them, I beg You;
Look at what, what it’s come to:
Even we, who bear Your Name,
Have held our words to wrong.

For too long, we’ve sat in silence,
And watched the death and violence
Don’t let it happen anymore,
Cry out “O Lord, Restore!”

For so long, I’ve been calling,
“Save me, ‘cause I have fallen,
So many miles from You,
And You’re where I want to be;
Restore, restore me.”
